In my opinion I believe that Jessica Lange's character portrays Blanche more accurately than Vivien Leigh. Jessica plays a much more believable Blanche creating an intense gripping attentiveness from the audience through every word. Vivien's acting of Blanche seemed rough around the edges and at times creating a believable Blanche but overall a weak performance. I believe that in Tennessee William's quote he would have agreed that Jessica Lange once again portrayed a much more accurate display of the true essence of his creation of Blanche's character. Jessica does an excellent job of creating a suspenseful tone recreating the traumatizing events which lead to her late husbands suicide while desperately trying to seek the love and attention from Mitch who she was explaining the story too. I believe that in turn of her weakness during this spout she illuminates her true inner strength and adds depth to her character.
