Reflections

Ok I'm going to do this in order and be brief:
Im going to rate it on a 5 star rating as well. 5 being the best and 1 being the worst.
The Man from Mars - 1 star. I found it very uninteresting. I felt as if we were stretching here to figure out what ethnicity the creeper was when it was unimportant to the story.

The Rudy Elmenhurst Story - 1 Star. I think Julia Alvarez needs to read a "How to culturally adapt for Dummies" book. She is determined to blame all her life problems on men and puts it in her stories. No ones buying it - welcome to America Julia - teen guys want ONE thing. Vagina.

Streetcar Name Desire - 2 star. This wasn't a bad read. The play is decent as well. I still think Tennessee has little man complex and needs to let out his true feelings towards his father and stop crying about it with his pen and paper.

The Shark's Parlor - The Performance - Springer Mountain - Overall I give Dickey a 2 just because he tries hard to be the Paul Bunyan version of a poet. I enjoyed springer mountain of the 3 the most because of the sensory imagery. It made me feel like I was in the mountains - a happy place.

Sula - 3. This honestly wasn't a bad read. It was easy and pretty interesting. I enjoyed it.

The Indian Uprising - 3 - Barthelme is on crack rocks. This story at least got some sort of movement going on in the students heads. Yes I'm surprised too.

Childless Woman, Cinderalla, The Rival - 5 stars based on what we have read. I wish we would of spent more time on Plath's poems and took an in depth look into what was going on. I think in a contemporary Lit class we should be analyzing material that isn't written for monkey's. Plath's writing is exquisite and dementedly entertaining. It should be analyzed more in this type of class.

And for the sake of being monotonous Atonement gets a negative 20. The worst garbage I have ever read. The movie was even more annoying because I could put a picture to the faces of the characters I wanted to destroy.

Watchman - 4 - Comic books are cool.

I really enjoyed this class however. Angie is the best teacher and it will be sad to see her go. She did a great job in getting the class to converse about these mind numbing stories to keep me awake. I don't think anyone else could of pulled it off.
